Come out and help us support the relief efforts for Puerto Rico after the devastating hurricane that took place in September.
A Party Called Rosie Perez celebrates the essence of New York City and its barrios. Hailing from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, DJs Christian Martir, Laylo, and Sucio Smash blend their collective love of Latin music with hip hop, soul, house, reggae, and afrobeat to create a non-stop dancefloor experience. Imagine a Hector Lavoe track, produced by DJ Premier, and remixed by Cardi B. That is A Party Called Rosie Perez.
Casitas Wisdom will be on site at the event, creating herbal sprays that celebrate Rosie Perez’s joy and activism. Casitas Wisdom is a healing arts collective that honors the legacy of New York casitas and the healing practices of people of color throughout the diaspora. They gather in the spirit of home to create spaces where community shares the knowledge carried in our bodies. This is a political act of love and survival.
Events on the High Line are always free and open to the public, but on the occasion of this event, we ask visitors to donate to the recovery efforts for Puerto Rico in any way you are able.
Financial donations can be made via the registration page for the event. Proceeds from the event will go to the Defend Puerto Rico Hurricane Fund. If you are unable to attend the event, you are still able to contribute through the registration page.
Donations of goods for recovery efforts for Puerto Rico will be accepted on site at the event. Recommended items include diapers for babies and the elderly, baby wipes, baby formula, powdered milk, and baby food; flashlights, batteries, insect repellent, can openers, candles, and matches; toiletries, feminine products, and First Aid supplies; crackers, dried fruit, nuts, granola bars, canned goods, instant noodles, and rice. Goods will be dropped off and donated through El Puente.
La Deliciosa Show is presented as part of Mutations, a group exhibition that explores the relationship between man and nature, looking at how the boundaries between the natural world and culture are defined, crossed, and obliterated.
